About the Book

The Legend of the Return

ANNABELLE is a teen-aged girl who feels like a misfit most of the time. Her difficulties with friendship and trust are put to the test when she discovers a dragon hiding in the woods behind her home, and a strange and powerful bond forms between them. When this beautiful and enchanting creature is joined by a fellow ally from a far-away world called Qi^Ba^Ru, they invite Annabelle to go on an adventure that sounds terrifying.

The dragon speaks of a legend of her return to a world that was once well known to her ancestors, explaining that her human family is in great danger. Her fiercest enemy, a half-elf named Daramac, is determined to end all of mankind, and he may have  finally found a way to complete his mission. Annabelle, the dragon, Arielle, and Doogal, embark on a quest to try to put a stop to his evil plans. Will they be in time?

The Legend of the Return paints Annabelle as the hero of the story, but she doesn’t feel fit to face the task before her. The bond she has formed with her dragon, Arielle, is changing her. Her friendship with Doogal is affecting her as well. Maybe, when fueled by love and trust, anything is possible. Maybe their love is even strong enough to fuel the hero within her. As Annabelle faces this strange new world, she must find courage, confidence, and love within.

"A wondrously written tale. You will root for the main characters."
- Gay Goetz, retired Regional Director of Long Term Care Operations

About the Author

Patti McDonald is a lifelong storyteller who enjoys sharing her tales and impacting lives. Her love of writing began in her high-school English class when her teacher shared her short story with the other students. The feedback was surprisingly positive and encouraging. She finds writing helps her sort through her thoughts and gives her a voice to encourage others. She regularly shares stories on social media, and her audience there encouraged her to write a book. Writing has become a way to unite and ignite the people of her world.

Patti has dedicated much of her life to adopting and raising abandoned and neglected dogs. Now pet-free, she pet-sits and walks dogs for families, and dog-whispering just might be one of her gifts. She enjoys spending her time volunteering for a variety of organizations. She is an advocate for women’s recreational sports, and works hard in her community to create a safe space for women to enjoy sports in a supportive and nurturing environment. In her spare time, Patti likes to stay active and creative by playing pickleball, cycling, golfing, painting, knitting, crocheting, and teaching. She is fiercely dedicated to her family and friends.
